WHAT IS ACTIVATE?
Activate is an extended weekend retreat for students, to prepare them to go back to school on-fire for Jesus and re-focused on the Great Commission.  Our goal is to prepare your students to fully embrace the most important ministry season of the year.

WHO IS ACTIVATE FOR?
Activate is targeted at students in high school, however we will allow youth leaders to bring the students turning 12 this year up to age 18. Youth leaders should be at least 19 years of age.  


Students must be registered with a youth group.  No individual registrations will be permitted.

KIM MORAN

GENERAL SESSION & BREAKOUT SPEAKER

Over the last 10 years, Kim has served as a youth pastor, director of a not-for-profit organization, a campus pastor, a Bible College professor, and most recently became part of the Lead Pastoral Team at Abbotsford Pentecostal Assembly in Abbotsford, British Columbia. Kim’s passion for the Bible, her inspiring story of hope and healing, and her desire to see people’s lives changed by the presence of the Holy Spirit resonates with people of all ages. While her favourite things include warm pastries, smoothie bowls and travelling, if you ask her what she loves she’ll gush about her husband Clark, her passion for ministry, and her love for the God who has never left her side.

CLARK MORAN

GENERAL SESSION & BREAKOUT SPEAKER

Clark and his wife Kim currently live in Abbotsford, BC, where they serve as the Lead Pastors at Abbotsford Pentecostal Assembly. He has previously been a Campus Pastor, a Youth Pastor, a High School hockey coach, and joined a team of chaplains from around the world for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. Clark loves to meet students as he travels across Canada, and has a sincere desire to see this generation have a true encounter with God. He loves his wife, hockey, golf and the Chicago Blackhawks.

WORSHIP LEADER

Melissa is the Worship Pastor at Bethel in Stratford, On.  She is incredibly passionate about seeing young people connect to God through worship.  She believes that worship is not simply singing songs to a distant God, but a two-way conversation with a Father who is close and wants to know you.  Her pass-time is spent loving on her amazing husband, Chad, who is the Lead Pastor at Bethel, and her two children, Myles and Emma.

cARLO ROSATI

WORSHIP LEADER

Carlo currently lives in Stratford, Ontario where he serves as the Student Ministries Pastor at Bethel Church. Music has been flowing through his life ever since he was a child. He loves to invest in young people and watch God transform their lives. Some of his favourite hobbies are skateboarding, eating chicken wings, and watching The Office.

JEFF JOHNSTON

BREAKOUT SPEAKER

Jeff currently serves as Lead Pastor at Calvary Assembly in Cambridge.  Known for his unique style of communication, he has a passion to see the Church experience life and transformation in the Presence of God. Jeff has been happily married to his wife Carrie, for 17 years, who along with their 2 children, have joyfully opened up their home as a foster family.

RICK ZUIDERSMA

BREAKOUT SPEAKER

Rick Zuidersma comes from Burlington, ON where he is currently serving as the Youth Ministries Pastor at Glad Tidings Church.  Rick completed his BA Theology in Youth Ministry with an emphasis in music theory and ministers together with his wife Ashley.  He loves to see students come into the presence of God and has a desire for this generation to hear about and come to know Jesus Christ. Whether it is through speaking or leading worship, Rick hopes you will encounter Jesus and as a result, never be the same!

Below are options for both meals and accommodations for Activate.  Groups are free to choose what works best for them.  Youth Ministries is not responsible for meals or lodging for groups.

  • Purchase a meal plan from Braeside Camp (meals in the dining hall, see details below)

Braeside has THREE meal plan options to choose from.

Please note:  
Braeside Camp makes reasonable attempts to reduce the amount of known allergens when preparing foods and is committed to reducing the risk of food-related allergenic reactions among our registrants. Unfortunately, some food products that they serve will have been produced in processing  plants that have come in contact with eggs, milk, soybean, wheat, food coloring, sulphites, nuts and/or seeds, and as such, it is possible that a student could be exposed to a known allergen(s).

AGE REQUIREMENTS  
Activate is targeted at students in high school, however we will allow youth leaders to bring the students turning 12 this year up to age 18.  

LEADERS/CHAPERONES
Youth leaders should be at least 19 years of age, and groups should aim to have at least 1 leader per 7 students.

CHECK-IN
Registration check in will be in the Braeside Office (at the front of the property) on Friday, August 25 from 6:00 - 7:30pm.  We will be unable to check anyone in any earlier. 

CHECK-OUT
Activate will end on Monday, August 28 at 12:30pm.  Groups staying at Braeside will have to check out by 1:30 pm, and will be given specific check out instructions.

SECURITY DEPOSIT
All groups will be required to submit a credit card number for their security deposit of $150 per group. This deposit is required from every registered group (whether or not they are renting accommodations). The security deposit safeguards against damage done to the camp property, and the actions of the group. Your credit card will not be charged until after the event, if required.  You will be notified before your card is charged, and it will be at the discretion of Youth Ministries and Braeside Camp. SECURITY AND SAFETY
Groups will be expected to abide by the Expectations and Guidelines they will receive at registration check in (it will also be sent in advance to registered groups). Any group that does not abide by these expectations will risk forfeiting their deposit.  Vandalism, theft, assault / threat of assault, drug use, and possession of alcohol will be handled by police. Youth Ministries and Braeside Camp are not responsible for lost or stolen items.

DRESS CODE
Modest clothing must be worn at all times for guys and girls. Activate staff will reserve the right to ask students and leaders to change their clothes if they do not adhere to this.  

Examples: 

  • It is preferred that girls wear a one-piece bathing suit. Any two-piece bathing suits must be covered by a long t-shirt or tank top (that is not see-through). 
  • No short shorts or short skirts
  • No tube tops
  • Tank tops are permitted, however please try to keep bra straps from showing.
  • Underwear should not show (guys or girls)
  • Please refrain from wearing skin tight clothing and low cut tops.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING TO ACTIVATE?
Sleeping bag, pillow, toiletries, towel, one-piece bathing suit, sports/casual clothes, bandages, Bible, pen, notebook, alarm clock, and tuck shop money.  

WHAT SHOULDN’T I BRING TO ACTIVATE?
Limited use of phones and electronic equipment will be permitted. The use of electronics will not be permitted during services or other scheduled activities.  Bringing valuables to Activate will be at your own risk. Youth Ministries and Braeside Camp are not responsible for lost or stolen items.

While this is not a nut-free facility, out of courtesy for all campers, please do not bring nuts or items containing nuts.


REGISTRATION

This form is for group leaders only.  No individual registrations of students by parents or family is permitted.  Students must be registered with their church group.  Please read through all the Activate information before contacting our office with questions.

HOW TO REGISTER

  1. First register for the event. Online registration is the preferred method for Activate. It is both secure, and immediate.  If you are unable to register online, please contact Youth Ministries.
  2. Complete your security deposit form.
  3. Don't forget to budget for meals and accommodations!

FRIDAY NIGHT ONLY

After August 11th, you will no longer be able to register online.
On site registration will begin on August 25 at 6:00pm at the Braeside front office.

PASTOR COMES FOR FREE!  Each group will get ONE free pastor or leader registration. All other leaders must be registered.

FRIDAY NIGHT SERVICE
Friday night is the ONLY service open to non-registered people/groups, at a cost of $5 per person. Groups coming for Friday night can pre-register, or register on site on August 25.  Groups must check in at the Braeside Office when they arrive. All other services and activities will be closed to registered delegates only.

PLEASE NOTE
In accordance with Canadian tax regulations, HST has been added to registration rates listed above.

All Registrations are NON-REFUNDABLE but transferable within this event.

Registrations must be made by a youth leader. Students (under 18) cannot register or attend this event without adult chaperones. This is a group event.

This event is not open to children under the age of 12. Anyone participating in the event activities or services MUST be registered.

WHAT DOES REGISTRATION INCLUDE?

WHEN IS ACTIVATE?
Activate runs from Friday evening until Monday at lunch time.

CAN WE JUST COME FOR EVENING SERVICES?
Friday, August 25 (7:30pm) will be the only service available to the public, at a cost of $5 per person. All other services and activities will be closed to event registrants only.

 

REGISTRATION

CAN I REGISTER BY PHONE, FAX, OR EMAIL?
No, we will not be receiving registrations by phone, fax, or email.

CAN I REGISTER ONLINE?
Online registration is the preferred method for Activate registration.

I AM HAVING TROUBLE REGISTERING ONLINE.  IS THERE ANOTHER METHOD?
Please contact Youth Ministries for assistance if you are having trouble.

CAN I REGISTER AT BRAESIDE CAMP?
All pre-registration will occur online via Youth Ministries until August 6.  On site registration will be available on August 25 (if space permits) at 6:00pm.

WHAT DOES ACTIVATE REGISTRATION INCLUDE?
Registration includes all services and seminars, event activities and games, and access to Braeside camp facilities.

DO YOUTH PASTORS / LEADERS NEED TO PAY THE REGISTRATION FEE?
Yes, all leaders must pay the registration fee.  However, each group will get ONE free pastor or leader registration.

IS THERE A REGISTRATION DEADLINE?
Yes.  The last day to pre-register for Activate will be Sunday, August  6.  After this point, registrations will only be accepted at registration check in on Friday, August 25 if there is space. 

MY YOUTH GROUP ISN'T REGISTERING FOR ACTIVATE. WHAT CAN I DO?
You can try to find another youth group that is attending and register with them. Again, each person must be registered with a group.
